Walkaround is the first solo album by Massimo Sergi, who started his career as an organist, and later opened to the huge sound spectrum given by the synthesizer and by the suggestive evocations of the solo piano. This debut moves around a widespread sound range, with keen jazz hints and clear classic references, shifting through some tasteful pop solutions and odd - clearly countertrend - experimentations. This work recalls gentle and subtle blues, tragic atmospheres but always aimed at a deep reflection, charming voices in alienating callings.

In this background, many clear references to Keith Jarrett of the Köln Concert, to André Gagnon’s sophistications, to David Benoit’s graceful lightness, to Joe Hisaishi’s soundtracks reach the listener's ear.

The artist has been recently engaged in the release of the experimental/ambient Fleeting Steps album by Livi-Pontani-Sergi-Dente Quartet, published by Eclectic Production in July 2017.

This album is divided into two different parts. The first (Segment (a): A Piano Walk) consists of twelve pieces performed by the pianist. In the second one (Segment (b): Around A Piano), composed of two tracks, Massimo Sergi benefits from the work of two artists already participating in Fleeting Steps: Stefano Pontani, an eminent guitarist, formerly member of seminal prog and jazz bands (Ezra Winston, Anagramma, VU-Meters, Matilda Mothers Project), as well as Gianluca Livi, formerly belonging to the Anno Mundi hard/heavy rock band, here taken out of his own percussionist role and active as mere engraver of sounds and ambience, as well as sound engineer in the whole Walkaround.

The album has been published by Terre Sommerse.
